The xx and Florence and the Machine and The Very Best were all in Australia for the Laneway Festivals last month, and it's pretty cute to think that the three of them became best friends and decided to to this together. I have zero idea if that's how it happened, but it sounds kind of good.

Don't kill live music

The S.L.A.M. 'Don't Kill Live Music' event is on tomorrow afternoon in Melbourne. The Government has decided that live music is a trigger for venues being labelled 'high risk'. The protest tomorrow is to empower and show support for small live music venues who are struggling with the State Government's (oftentimes unfair) pressures.
Meet at the State Library at 4pm, march down Swanston Street. It's strictly a no alcohol event, don't ruin the message by being the drunk fucktard vomiting.
Save live music.

Rest in peace, The Knack's Doug Fieger

The Knack's lead singer Doug Fieger died after a long illness yesterday, he was only 57-years-old. While some of you might not know who he is by name, you'll no doubt know his band's 1979 song 'My Sharona':
And if you vaguely remember it, but don't know from where, it had a massive revival circa 1994 when it appeared on the Reality Bites – AKA One Of The Best Movies Ever (Can You Believe Ben Stiller Directed It?) – soundtrack.
That scene made you want to have a friend like Sammy, get stoned with Vicky, make out with Ethan Hawke (during his vintage mission brown pants and greasy hair stage vs. his crackhead-smile, ageing oddly post-Uma era) and pretty much transform into Winona Ryder's perfected Levi's 501, second-hand tee-shirt, round tortoise-shell sunglasses, messy hair 1990s version of herself.
